What would jesus say about our church? Be Discerning! - Revelation 2:12-29

The Good & The Bad... The churches in Pergamum and Thyatira were a combination of good and bad. Pergamum was praised for its perseverance and Thyatira for its love, faith, service, and endurance. However, they both had the same problem - they were too tolerant of those within the church who mislead Christians into idolatry and immorality.

How to Fight... First, those who have been led into idolatry and immorality must repent (vs. 16,22). Secondly, we must fear the Lord who has the power to wage war on us and to kill us (vs. 16, 21-23). Thirdly, we must remember the reward that Christ has promised to those who have persevering faith - we will reign with Jesus (vs. 26-27).

1. Have you ever known a "Balaam" or "Jezebel"? How should the church respond to these?

2. Why does Christ take the purity of His church so seriously? Do you take it seriously?

3. How might Christ be calling you to "repent" in light of today's passage?
