April 7, 2025 – 1 Kings 19-22

We close part one of the book of kings we also close the chapter of the King Ahab and his reign. Overall, he was a bit of a mixed bag. He was one of the more evil Kings and he worshiped false gods. Even still there are times such as after Naboth’s vineyard when Elijah confronts him that he has remorse over what he has done. Even though he seems to repent at this it does not stick. Later when he goes into battle against the King of Aram He is once again consulting the prophets of other gods. King Jehoshaphat Of Judah has to ask Ahab to have a prophet of the Lord come and give his counsel. Even after Micaiah delivers the message of bad news for the king that he will meet his death the king still goes forward disbelieving the message of the Lord. Ahab helped me realize something. He was a descendant of Abraham, but do you think he is in heaven? No, He lived a wicked life and even to the end he did not trust the Lord. So even here in the Old Testament not everyone who is a descendent of Abraham is a part of God people but it’s those who have faith. So, we are saved the same way Old Testament Saints are saved; faith in the faithfulness of God. Although we do have a better picture of what God’s Faithfulness looks like through the life death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Unlike Ahab may have faith to take God at his word and remember God’s Faithfulness today.

Hear Peter’s argument, here.  Christ has suffered and died so that we might no longer live our old lives, rather, that we “might live in the spirit the way God does” (4:6-7).  Furthermore, “the end of
