April 15, 2021 – Psalms 97-101

I believe Psalm 100 was the first Bible text, certainly, the first full psalm I ever memorized. It was back in the third grade, and we as a class memorized the psalm. The heading pretty much tells it all: “A Psalm for giving thanks.” And the psalmist calls for “all the earth” to do so. In another place, David writes, “The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made” (Psalm 145:9). Jesus himself noted, regarding his Father, “For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust” (Matthew 5:45).

How good is our God! How easily and eagerly should we serve him with gladness and come into his presence with singing! Thanksgiving and praise we give to him for he is good and his steadfast love endures forever!
