August 28, 2025 - Zechariah 14

On the coming Day of the Lord, great panic will seize the enemies of Israel because of the plagues that will come upon them.  But the people of God will flee to the mountains for safety.  They will look and see that “living waters shall flow out from Jerusalem” (14:8).  The whole land will be turned into a plain, fertile and productive, and “It shall be inhabited, for there shall never again be a decree of utter destruction” (14:11).  And, on that day, “Every pot in Jerusalem and Judah shall be holy to the LORD of hosts, so that all who sacrifice may come and take of them and boil the meat of the sacrifice in them.  And there shall no longer be a trader in the house of the LORD of hosts on that day” (14:21).  No traders, not selling and buying in the house of the Lord; rather, it will be a place of worship and a proper place for the Lord to dwell in the midst of his people.

Come, Thou Almighty King,

help us Thy name to sing;

help us to praise:

Father, all glorious,

o'er all victorious,

come, and reign over us,

Ancient of Days.   –Anonymous (1757)
