August 7, 2025 - Daniel 10-12

Three chapters left in Daniel but so much more to come:  the 70 weeks prophecy, the vision of the man which terrified Daniel (ch. 10), the kings of the south and the north (ch. 11), and finally, the end (ch. 12).  Unsettled and frightening times, but through it all, Daniel understands that there is One in whom he can trust and rest.  The same for us.  This is a reoccurring theme throughout the Bible, whether in the historical books, the Psalms, or the prophets; that is, through every danger, toil, and snare God cares for and watches over us.  John Newton understood:

Through many dangers, toils and snares

I have already come:

‘tis grace has brought me safe thus far,

and grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,

his word my hope secures;

he will my shield and portion be

as long as life endures.   –John Newton (1779)
