August 7, 2026 - Daniel 7-12

These last chapters of Daniel are comprised of visions that detail the future over the following two or three centuries.  The visions are amazing in both their detail and their accuracy as they show Daniel what will take place.  The details are important.  The events are important.  But that which stands out in the midst of it all is the ruling providence of God.  When Daniel first began seeing the visions, he wrote:  “As I looked, thrones were placed, and the Ancient of days took his seat; his clothing was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool, his throne was fiery flames . . .” (7:9.10).  When we examine the events of history, we see God.  When take note of current events, if we have eyes to see, we see God.  When we look around at the creation, we see God.  He is everywhere and he is over all.  Ultimately, that is the story and the message of these visions.

Jesus shall reign where’er the sun

does its successive journeys run,

his kingdom stretch from shore to shore,

till moons shall wax and wane no more.

To him shall endless prayer be made,

and praises throng to crown his head.

His name like sweet perfume shall rise

with every morning sacrifice.

People and realms of every tongue

dwell on his love with sweetest song,

and infant voices shall proclaim
