“A Psalm of David. Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness. The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord, over many waters” (29:1-3).
The voice of the Lord! Powerful, full of majesty, breaks the great cedars of Lebanon, orders the constellations, flashes forth flames of fire, shakes the wilderness, makes the deer give birth and strips the forests bare. The Lord speaks and the heavens and the earth are created. The Lord speaks and has his way among the nations. The Lord speaks and his people are saved. Rightly does David declare, “In his temple all cry, ‘Glory!’” (29:9) “May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless his people with peace!” (Ps. 29:11 ESV)
Now unto the Lord, all you sons of the mighty,
all glory and strength and dominion accord;
ascribe to him glory, and render him honor.
In beauty of holiness worship the Lord,
in beauty of holiness worship the Lord.
The voice of the Lord is above all the waters;
in thunder the God of all glory draws nigh.
Lo, over the waves of the billowing waters
the Lord is enthroned in his glory on high!
The Lord is enthroned in his glory on high! --Anonymous (1912)
