May 20, 2026 - Psalms 2-6

Several years back, as I was reading through the Psalms, I just noted individual verses that stand out to me along with accompanying observations.  I think I’ll do that, this time around.  Let’s start with Psalm 3.  “I cried aloud to the Lord, and he answered me from his holy hill” (3:4) à Indeed, the Lord answers us when we call on him.

“O LORD, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch” (5:3) à It is good to approach God and call to him in the morning.

“All my enemies shall be ashamed and greatly troubled; they shall turn back and be put to shame in a moment” à No need for us to be anxious about evil doers.  God will deal rightly with them.

See how the rising sun

Pursues his shining way,

And wide proclaims his Maker’s praise,

With every bright’ning ray.

Thus would my rising soul

Its Heavenly Parent sing,

And to its great Original

The humble tribute bring.

Serene I laid me down

Beneath His guardian care:

I slept, and I awoke, and found

My kind Preserver near!   -- Elizabeth Scott  (1790)
