“The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold” (18:2). à What possible additional observation could I possibly make concerning this statement of trust in the Lord!
“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork” (19:1). à To deny God’s existence is to willfully close one’s eyes and mind and heart. All around are wonderful evidences of his works.
“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God” (20:7). à We trust in God who is our protector and redeemer. Our hope lies nowhere else nor in anyone else.
My life flows on in endless song,
above earth’s lamentation.
I catch the sweet, though far-off hymn
that hails a new creation.
No storm can shake my inmost calm
while to that Rock I’m clinging.
Since Love is lord of heav’n and earth,
how can I keep from singing? --Anonymous (1869)
