May 24, 2025 - Psalms 26-30

The LORD is my light and my salvation;

      whom shall I fear?

The LORD is the stronghold of my life;

      of whom shall I be afraid?

When evildoers assail me

      to eat up my flesh,

 my adversaries and foes,

      it is they who stumble and fall.

Though an army encamp against me,

      my heart shall not fear;

though war arise against me,

      yet I will be confident. (27:1-3)

Let me just say, that’s a life worth living!  A life fully trusting in the Lord.  A life lived without fear.  A life settled into the stronghold of God’s protection.  A life in which adversaries and foes ultimately fall.  No fear even of armies.  A life filled with confidence.  As I read David’s testimony, I found myself thinking about recent graduates.  At Baxter, this time around, we have no one graduating from the seminary or college.  But Zaiah is graduating from high school and will have his commencement service, this afternoon.  My prayer is that he will live this life, always leaning on and resting in the Lord.

What a fellowship, what a joy divine,

leaning on the everlasting arms;

what a blessedness, what a peace is mine,

leaning on the everlasting arms.

Leaning, leaning,

safe and secure from all alarms;

leaning, leaning,

leaning on the everlasting arms.   --E. A. Hoffman (1887)
