“I do not sit with men of falsehood, nor do I consort with hypocrites. I hate the assembly of evildoers, and I will not sit with the wicked” (26:4-5). à We must guard our relationships, not consorting with those who oppose God. Positively, let us say, with the psalmist: “I am a companion of all who fear you, of those who keep your precepts” (Psalm 119:63).
“One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple” (27:4). à Of all life’s blessings, oh, to know the Lord and to gaze upon his beauty!
“You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever!” (30:11-12) à Oh, how the Lord is able to turn our sorrows and our anxieties in dancing and singing!
Tho’ the night be dark and dreary,
Tho’ the way be long and weary,
Morn shall bring thee light and cheer;
Child, look up, the dawn is near.
There’ll be joy by and by,
There’ll be joy by and by;
In the dawning of the morning,
There’ll be joy by and by. --Mrs. E. C. Ellsworth (1877)
