October 15, 2026 - Acts 16
Acts 16 tells about Timothy preparing to join Paul and Silas in their work. Then, Paul sees this vision of a man in Macedonia calling him over to help. Luke reports Paul and Silas’ response: “And when Paul had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go on into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them. Along the way, in Philippi, Lydia believed the gospel and she and her household were baptized. In the same city, Paul and Silas were imprisoned, were miraculously delivered, and the Philippian jailer believed and all his family. Paul and Silas even received an apology from the magistrates who had sent them to prison! Oh my, what stories. Back to the vision, there is this: “And when Paul had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go on into Macedonia.” I love the willingness and the commitment to do whatever God called them to do and to do so whenever God instructed. No excuses. No delays. Just immediate obedience, as should be the case with us.
Fight the good fight with all your might;
Christ is your strength, and Christ is your right;
Lay hold on life, and it shall be
Your joy and crown eternally.
Run the straight race through God's good grace;
Lift up your eyes, and seek his face.
Life with its way before us lies;
Christ is the path, and Christ the prize.
Cast care aside; upon your Guide
Lean, and his mercy will provide;
Lean, and the trusting soul shall prove
Christ is its life, and Christ its love. -- John S. B. Monsell (1863)
