October 21, 2026 - Acts 20
Macedonia and Greece. Paul’s long preaching, and Eutychus’ fall from the window, death, and being brought back to life. “Now from Miletus [Paul] sent to Ephesus and called the elders of the church to come to him” (20:17). Having reminded the elders how he had preached the gospel at Ephesus, Paul declared, “I am going to Jerusalem, constrained by the Spirit, not knowing what will happen to me there, except that the Holy Spirit testifies to me in every city that imprisonment and afflictions await me. But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God” (20:22-24). Hear Paul: “I don’t know what will happen to me. I might even be killed. But that is of no consequence as long as I am found faithful to the Lord Jesus.”
A charge to keep I have,
a God to glorify,
a never-dying soul to save,
and fit it for the sky.
To serve the present age,
my calling to fulfill,
O may it all my pow’rs engage
to do my Master’s will!
Arm me with watchful care
as in Thy sight to live,
and now Thy servant, Lord, prepare
a strict account to give!
Help me to watch and pray,
and still on Thee rely,
O let me not my trust betray,
but press to realms on high. -- Charles Wesley (1762)
