September 25, 2026 - John 2-5

The wedding at Cana when Jesus changed the water into wine.  John reports, “This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory.  And his disciples believed in him” (2:11).  Of course, they believed in him!  His works, not to mention his teaching, demonstrated clearly who and what he was.  And remember, there is so much more.  John ends his Gospel noting that he is a first-hand witness of all that he reports and then:  “This is the disciple who is bearing witness about these things, and who has written these things, and we know that his testimony is true.  Now there are also many other things that Jesus did.  Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written” (21:24-25).  The Samaritan woman understood; she said to the townspeople:  “Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did.  Can this be the Christ?” (4:29)  The townspeople themselves believed:  “Many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony” (4:39).  How could they not?  The official, whose son Jesus healed, “believed, and all his household” (4:53).  How could they not? 

The story is told.  The prophecies are fulfilled.  The Savior has come.  What to do but believe!
