August 19, 2025 - Micah 5-7

A very quick note, this morning, largely letting a single verse and song lyrics to tell the story.   What a powerful ending prophecy Micah gives us!  “Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance?  He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love.  He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities underfoot.  You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea” (7:18,19).  Oh, how wonderful to sing:

Great God of wonders, all thy ways

are matchless, God-like and divine;

but the fair glories of thy grace

more God-like and unrivaled shine.

In wonder lost, with trembling joy,

we take the pardon of our God,

pardon for sins of deepest dye,

a pardon sealed with Jesus’ blood.

Who is a pardoning God like thee,

or who has grace so rich and free?   -- Samuel Davies (1790)
