December 4, 2025 - 1 Peter 3

Such good and wise counsel from Peter!  “Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind.  Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing” (3:8-9).   Oh, if we always lived in this manner!

How sweet, how heav’nly is the sight,

When those that love the Lord

In one another’s peace delight,

And so fulfill His word;

When each can feel His brother’s sigh,

And with him bear a part;

When sorrow flows from eye to eye,

And joy from heart to heart;

When free from envy, scorn, and pride,

Our wishes all above,

Each can His brother’s failings hide,

And show a brother's love.

 Love is the golden chain that binds

The happy souls above;

And he's an heir of heav’n who finds

His bosom glow with love.  --Joseph Swain (1792)
