January 20, 2022 - Exodus 37-40

These chapters of Exodus tell the story of the building of the ark of the covenant and the other items that were placed in the tabernacle. The tabernacle and all its furnishings taught the Israelites and reminded them of the redeeming presence of the Lord with them. And when all was set up, “the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle” (40:34). How blessed is the people among whom the Lord dwells!

Jesus, where’er your people meet,

there they behold your mercy seat;

where’er they seek you, you are found,

and ev’ry place is hallowed ground. -- William Cowper (1769)
