June 22, 2025 - Proverbs 16-18

Some more of the Proverbs.  “All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirit” (16:2).  Lesson:  The Lord knows us as we truly are.

 

“How much better to get wisdom than gold!  To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver” (16:6).  Lesson:  The wise man will not chase after the riches of this world but will seek knowledge of God and his kingdom.  “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).

 

“Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body” (16:24).  Lesson:  We should always weigh our words, speaking carefully, graciously, and firmly as the situation requires.

 

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous man runs into it and is safe” (18:10).   Lesson:  He is our Rock and Salvation.  We trust not in the things of man but in our God.

His is love beyond a brother's,

costly, free, and knows no end;

they who once His kindness prove,
