“[The Lord Almighty] says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth’” (46:10). -- Sometimes it is good to just be still and think about God. In the mornings, even if only 5 minutes or so, it is a good way to start our days.
“God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne. The nobles of the nations assemble as the people of the God of Abraham, for the kings of the earth belong to God; he is greatly exalted” (47:8-9). -- In a world of turmoil, isn’t it good to know that our God reigns!
“The heavens declare his righteousness” (50:6). -- A short, simple statement but oh so important. I think it was Charles Spurgeon (doing this from memory) who noted that no person will be deprived of a knowledge of God except by his own unwillingness to learn. One only has to look into the heavens and into the creation to know that there is a great Creator.
How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him
who brings good news, good news;
Announcing peace, proclaiming news of happiness:
our God reigns, our God reigns!
Our God reigns, our God reigns, our God reigns,
our God reigns, our God reigns! --Leonard E. Smith (1974)
